A while ago, I submitted a writing test to a SEO company. The test consisted of writing over a topic to encourage and motivate readers. The following day after submitting my test, the publishing company replied to me with one straight line:
'This is very bad writing'.
No greetings, no thank you, not even a signature. Just a straight line.
When I was reading their reply, I laughed and got inspired to write this message to you.
You see my friend, I have learned that very often when we try to achieve things, there will be people who won't be shy to give their harsh honest opinion and they will make you believe that everybody thinks as they do.
Imagine yourself going to an 'Idol' audition; you prepared for weeks, and then the 'D day' arrives. You find yourself in front of three judges. It' s time to sing. After your performance, you received mixed reviews, but there is this one judge who criticizes your singing hardly and labels you as a 'the worst singer in the world'.He even goes to the length of making you believe that every body thinks the same about you and therefore you should quit.
Do you feel my post now?
There will be times in life where a minority or even one single person will attempt to weigh in their opinions inside your head. They won't just stop at expressing themselves, they will actually make you believe that entire world agrees with them. When that day comes, stand up, and refuse that false truth.
They will tell you things like:
'You are the ugliest girl (and every body thinks the same)
'You are the worst politician (and the press and the entire country thinks so)
'You have the worst idea in the world ( and the rest of the world thinks the same)
'You are a waste of life ( and the entire community thinks the same)
'No woman or man will ever fall in love with you (and the entire world thinks the same)
Do you believe it's true?
When people talk you down that way, remember that there are 6 billions human beings in the world who have different opinions. Remember that their attempts to destroy you mentally is a lie. Because as you strike distance from negative people, you will meet positivists, and more enthusiastic people who will see you as great, useful, loving, respectful and worthy. And do not try to convince negative people to change their minds about you, leave them alone.
Another example is found in the wave of xenophobia that spread through South Africa in the past weeks. For a moment you would think that all South African are xenophobic. But the truth is; those who instigated those troubles were a minority who had full coverage of the press. And because of that, it seemed as if the entire country is against foreigners. But that's not true. The number of reasonable and good people outweighs by far the number of xenophobic people in South Africa.
Jesus Himself was rejected by the Jewish leaders; but He did not see them as representing the entire world. He turned away from them and told his disciples to go to the rest of the world. Do you really think that the rest of the world held the same views of the Jewish leaders? No, on the contrary, they embraced Christianity.
As a matter of fact, you will even find people who will make you believe that even God holds a negative opinion about you.
Stay away from those people. Do not try to convince them or change their opinions.There are millions of people who think you are awesome, useful,lovely and God's creature. Your job is to find them.
