The Father loves me because I am giving my life, only to take it back again... John 10:17-18
Jesus came in this world and gave his life. He was really focused on His purpose and mission. But there is one aspect of Jesus that very few people mention: 'He knew how to look after Himself.'
When Jesus willingly gave His life for us, He had already planned a 'safety exit' at the end of His 'deadly goal': Resurrection.
There are a lot goal driven people on this Earth, who will stop at nothing to realize their purpose and achieve their goals, but they forget one very important element: 'They fail to look after themselves.'
If Jesus did not plan safe exit through resurrection, do you really think that Christianity would have been widely spread as it is today?
No, it would not. One of the main pillar of the Gospel is based on Jesus resurrection.
There are countless people who beat themselves to death just to realize a goal. They work non stop and forget to take a rest, spend quality time with their loved ones, look after themselves, they don't sleep, there is no fun in their lives...
You might have a cause to live for, but if you don't look after yourself ( emotionally, physically...), your body and soul will be damaged. If you get damaged because of hard work, who will finish the work you were born to do?
Have a back up plan in life.
I understand that it is known as widely heroic to be extremely selfless to the point of doing nothing for yourself. But you can also be a Hero while looking after yourself and your loved ones.
What's the difference between a dumb-idiot hero and a smart Hero?
-The dumb idiot is ready to quit his/her job to pursue a cause, without planning how is he/she going to live.
The smart hero would do the same but would plan first a safety net for himself/herself .
-A dumb hero would work through his purpose without resting his/her body, forgetting that he/she needs the very some body to work the following day.
A smart hero understands the importance of rest and will revitalize his/her body through reasonable rest, in order to get strong for times ahead.
-A dumb hero will make a 'cause' bigger than his/her spouse and children.
A smart hero understands that people are more important than a cause. The smart hero knows that he/she will get old one day, and that he/she will need loved ones around.
This is the dumbest thing dumb heroes do:
- They turn a cause into a little 'god'.They worship the 'cause'. Never do that, you will die of self neglect, your loved ones will desert you, and you might not have any friends along the line of time.
But the smart hero understands that the cause is an object. It can be beneficial to humanity, but the cause is not God.
Here is my conclusion:
'Both the dumb and the smart heroes will achieve something. But there is one difference:
In 99.9% of the cases, the dumb hero will destroy himself/herself and his/her loved ones through series of very avoidable pains. While the smart hero will realize his/her vision, and will live long enough to see its fruits.
The dumb hero loves the 'cause' more than himself/herself. Such person is a danger to his/her dependents. If the dumb hero lacks love towards himself, do you think he/she will love anyone else?
No, I don't think so. This explains why dumb heroes are ready to place their families on harm's way to pursue their purpose. Don't get confused; that person is a hero, but a dumb one.
The smart hero has self love and knows how to strike balance between people (including self) and a cause.
It's you time to choose:
'Smart or dumb?'
