If you are a purpose minded person who has trouble to realize his/her dreams, you will then understand what I am typing.
Do you want to know why many people have a tough time at releasing their true gifts to the world?
Here is the answer: 'They are too busy'.
What keeps them busy, becomes their life priorities. Priorities can be good, BUT they are at their best when they fulfill your God given purpose.
I hear people telling me how they wish they could do what they were born to do but have no time because they are too busy. Things like being with their families, getting a fulfilling job, writing a book, playing sport, being in a relationship, etc...
I will tell you something shocking that might revolutionize your thinking:
'In truth, we all have and we always had the time to live our dream lives. The only problem is that we don't prioritize. If you wish, you can be every where and be every thing, but you can only have few priorities. Your priorities are what matters the most to you.'
Some people's dreams don't come to life because those dreams are not a priority right now. They are involved into a round circle that takes the same direction day by day. The circle is more similar to a routine.
I hear people saying stuff like:
-I don't have time to spend with my spouse and kids. (But you will have time when you will prioritize to go home from work right after 4 or 5p.m, unless if you decide to work over time)
-I don't have the time to train and exercise. (You can have the time to do so if you prioritize exercising over sitting in front of your favorite sitcom)
There are many other examples I can used. The bottom line is :' There is more than enough time to do the things your heart long for. Unfortunately, that time is given to other things.
The Bible records a profoundly teachable anecdote in the book of Luke 10:38-42 :
' Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said: 'Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then, to help me". But Jesus answered her: ' Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.'
Mary could not be in both the kitchen and the living room at the same time so she decided to prioritize.
You see, it's all about prioritizing what matters.
And you don't have to make big overnight changes. You can always start small. If you need to exercise, spare 40 minutes of your day. There is no need to spend the whole day exercising. If you need to embrace a dream activity, you can always spare 2 days or 1 day a week, just to start with.
We should stop complaining that we don't have the time for what our heart long for. On the contrary, we should just admit that what we long for, is not a priority.
In the process of prioritizing, you will eventually lose some stuff. It is just about knowing what matters the most.
Your priority will determine who you will become. What you become is closely linked to what you are the most active in.
What are your top priorities?
