HOW TO USE THE LAW OF ATTRACTION: FEELING GOOD IS NOT EVERYTHING.

My previous blog ended on two unsolved questions that the 'Law of Attraction' fans have hard time to answer. After watching the documentary titled ' The Secret', I decided to turn a little extra attention to books and articles derived from it. Several authors attracted my attention, and while I was at it, some of them really succeeded in adding interesting knowledge in my mind, while others were truly trying hard at getting money through some marketing brutal techniques. There is nothing wrong with making money, just that some chosen  marketing methods could be very irritating to a guy like me. Enough said.

The guys from ' The Secret' quite managed to turn this abstract law into something accessible to all, but the problem remains in their decisions to get a scientific explanation for everything. And it's not only in the documentary, but also in some books written and linked to the 'Law of Attraction'. Folks, there are some phenomena that can not be understood through scientific methods, until then, we will have to stick to abstract ways such as faith.

Today's blog responds to one crucial question:

Are feelings everything we need?

Are feelings everything?

Well, to a certain extent, feelings drive many decisions in our lives, society, politics and even businesses...
I find it quite very out of limits to state that ' feelings are everything'. The  Law of attraction devotees defend the importance of feelings and attribute success and failure to  it.  In other words, when you feel good, you attract good things, good people and circumstances. When you feel bad, negative things  and people come your way. It is not totally wrong or true. But here is my opinion on feelings:

' Feelings are important and can trigger outwards results, however, the positivity or negativity of a feeling is totally subjectivist or related to an individual.'  I will explain with examples:

Example 1: 'John is in love (positive feeling) with his girlfriend Tamya. Because of the way he feels for her, he decides to propose her. The two get happily married and move forward in their lives.

Example 2: 'Todd is in love (positive feeling) with his co-worker Shanice, who is a married woman. After a while, Shanice ,a mother of two, falls for Todd. They have an affair due to their passionate attraction in alignment for each other. And one day, Shanice's husband finds out about the affair and files for divorce. After a tough lawsuit, Shanice loses custody of her kids ( who will have to grow up without seeing their mum), Todd (the Mr. 'Feel everything') dumps her.

Example 3: 'Joe  likes to do stuff that brings joy (positive feeling) in his heart, such as making money. So he sells stuff on the internet to customers all  over the world. People buy merchandise online and he is busy cashing in, which makes him happy (positive feeling). But there is one thing we forgot to mention about Joe; the products that he sells online don't exist. Meaning that Joe is a con artist, today, he has made double of his usual 'sales' profits and he is very happy( positive feeling) while some victims are paying the price to make some con artist very happy.

Example 4( True example): Hitler, a legendary evil german leader, hated (negative feelings) the Jews and decided to exterminate them from the face of the earth. But after a while, that hate turned into  joy (a positive feeling); the joy of seeing innocent innocent Jewish people being put to death. The worst part is that his army and his people enjoyed (positive feeling) it as well.

Have you been struck by those four 'mind ticking' examples?

'Law of attraction devotees' love to say: 'feeling is everything, follow your feeling. Just do what makes you feel good...'

No my friend, I am not saying that feelings are bad, they are vey useful, but living according only to your feelings  does not make you any different from an animal.  Just look at dogs; it can engage in a sexual intercourse with its own  offspring. I guess you are much better than that!

Oh, and to whomever feels that this post is hurting all his feelings on the devotion he/she has for the 'Law of attraction', I only have these words for you:

'Good bye, enjoy the rest of your browsing on other sites since you only follow your feelings.'

Here is the best response to complete  the 'feelings dilemna'and it is taken from the Bible:

'Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is lovely,  whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy ; think about such things' (Philippians 4:8).

Now we have a struck balance to control the influence of our feelings from a written Holy Word.

Just feeling good about something does not necessarily means that it is praiseworthy. A paedophile feels good ,not only when he abuses kids, but also when he thinks about it.
You need to set your mind on both good and praiseworthy things.
Remember this, the reason why laws and constitutions were established, was to control human regulations against living in an emotional animalistic way. So next time you get an impulse from your feelings, follow the Biblical advice previously quoted :' focus your mind on whatever is good but also excellent and praiseworthy'.

One more question comes in mind: 'how do I beat this up and down habit of being constantly led by my emotions, especially when outside circumstances are out of my control?

The answer comes in my next post.

God Bless you.

Maurice.
