For those who never came across the documentary, let's give a little hint on the documentary subject:" The Secret refers to a law able to provide or materialise to life the object of our attention ( or thinking). I only saw the documentary last year in 2011, which means five years after its release. Watching it was very entertaining, but the well produced documentary presented a message that I already knew. The beauty of watching the 'Secret' remained in its ability to artistically remind me of the power our mind possess. Here is a simple resume of what the Secret talks about:
' Like attracts Like,
The object of your focus( in thouhgt) materialises itself.
Your feelings determine the direction of your Life'
Hhhhmmmm, it sounds very easy isn't it? If it is that easy, why then so many people still struggle to make their dreams come true? And this is exactly where the documentary presents some short comings.
A while ago, I stumbled upon a very interesting blog explaining why so many people who attend seminars on personnal wealth, happiness or success organised by great names such as Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy, Les Brown and so on... don't change their lives.
Here is the blogger explanation on why people don't change their lives:
" People listening to great 'wealth and happiness' speakers hardly change because they don't align themselves in the spiritual dimension of the speaker."
And I totally agree. It is hard to believe or apply a single advice from those authors and documentaries, if you ain't got any belief into Someone Higher invisible to the eye sight. And this is exactly where the documentary called the Secret falls short and turns into a Biblical spoof !
The Universe? Who is that?
If it happens that you watch the 'Secret', you will watch a chapter talking about the 'Universe'. The philosopher introducing the concept in the film, describes the 'Universe' as the giant being bigger than everything and who becomes the sources of our blessings, and according to the same person, the term 'Universe' is attributed to God.
Ok, It seems to be right but I have an objection with the way God is portrayed in the documentary:' Firstly, The term 'Universe' was used out of fear of rejection from those viewers with negative attitude towards spirituality or religion.
Secondly, most core principles coming from the movie are inspired from the Bible ( like: Ask, believe and receive brought by Jesus or 'As a man think, so is he ' from the Biblical book of Proverbs). The people featuring in the film did a pretty good job at forgering the authors of those principles. The worse part, is that, it became a trend to the point where I even stumbled on an ignorant blogger claiming that the dictum :' As a man thinks, so is he ' is a Chinese proverb!
Thirdly, there is a problem linked to respect and honour. Since the release of the 'Secret', the term 'Universe' ( which scientists use to describe a thing and not a person) has been used disrepectfully, as to describe a vending machine (ask and you'll get) or some Genius from the Alladin lamp story. God is King and a living Being. He is not a tool of success but He provides success.
The first reason why so many fans of the 'law of attraction' don't receive ,is because they don't respect God. They reduced him to a machine.
Let's be honest :' would you provide to someone who constantly disrepects you?
The second reason why many don't benefit from the Law of attraction is because they fall into the Biblical spoof provided in the documentary attempting to convince millions that you don't really need God. To prove what I just wrote, you only need to watch Neale D. Walsch towards the end of the movie where he states that' Your Purpose is what you said it is... What's more confusing, is that most of Neale D. Walsch books are linked to spirituality and conversations with God.
This can be very confusing, especially for someone who is both a total unbeliever and a huge fan of the 'Secret'.
The third reason why the 'Law of attraction' barely works for so many people, is because those who present it fail to invite others into their spiritual dimension. Most people featuring in the Secret and the most succesful 'wealth and well being' speakers are and have been raised within a Christian environment where God's existence was acknowledged. They use biblical verses, pray in the morning, go to churches on sunday, but are very scared to be persecuted for their personal conviction. As a result, they use the word 'concentration' to replace 'prayer', they use the expression ' morning self motivation' to replace ' biblical meditation', they use the expression 'place of spiritual maintenance' for 'church' and so on...
Folks, here is the truth: 'As long as you don't match yourself in their spiritual dimensions, the Law of Attraction will barely work for you.
I heard a lot of unbelievers saying : " At least,it is so satisfying to know that the Law of attraction is something we can use without God involved".
Well, if you thought so, I think you have been duped!

I think, the following argument will get on many unbelievers nerves, but I have no apologies for that.
Let's be a little bit philosophical, if you believe in those principles:'Ask, Believe, and Receive.' and 'As a Man Thinks, so is he': then it's a good thing. Those principles come from the Bible. Thus implying that you believe the Bible is True and therefore that God exists. ( Gotcha!!!)
When God created man, He made him in His Likeness, as the Bible says. It means that man in his nature has the abiltiy to harness and exercise power to accomplish anything he wishes to do within the boundaries of his nature . That ability resides in the human from the moment they were born.
The boundaries of your Nature
When Adam and Eve gave birth to their first children, the Bible describes them according to their natural abilities and qualities. Notice that in the book of Genesis, Abel was a shepherd and Cain was a farmer. Please, focus again on this story. Have you noticed that the two brothers have different inclinations according to their natural talents? One is good at crops,plants, growing trees, sowing and reaping...while the other is good at taking care of animals. Very interesting isn't it?The chapter 4 of the Genesis Book offers one of the best explanation for understanding the Law of Attraction.Stay focused on these points:
1. There are two brothers with different talents, but completing each other.
2.Later, in the same chapter, we are witnessing the world's first murder caused by jealousy. Cain killed his brother out of jealousy and anger ( which are feelings). God warned Cain about the 'sin' crawling at the 'door'. What God really meant, was that Jealousy and anger would be the door for murder. Let's conclude that feelings could be doors to negative or positive actions. Cain's focus triggered an irreversible action. God even asked him: 'Why are you so downcast?'
3. When Cain was expelled by God, for Abel's murder, the Bible gives us an account of Cain's posterity. Notice the rise of new talents such as 'city building', 'musical ', 'forging abilities... from the chapter 4 of Genesis , we can easily conclude that every human being, regardless of sin or beliefs, has a God given talent. This explains why lawless people like Hitler rose to leadership, or why so many people who don't even believe in God are able to accomplish wonderful achievements. Do you want to know their secrets?
'They have learned how to journey on the inside of them, found their true nature or talents, and later managed to excel by regularly exercising those talents without trying to be someone else.'
To conclude, the Law of Attraction has been made for all, like the Law of Gravity, the weather and many other natural things. Even Jesus said : 'God makes the rain fall on the Just and the Wicked...'
The rest depends on what we do with the rain we receive. Some use it to grow their crops, others to drink and so on...
'God has given talents to everyone, the rest depends on how we use what we receive.'
Hitler was gifted for being a Leader, but his negative feelings led him to create a war and persecute. Here is my advice to you, even if you refuse to believe in God: 'Use well what was given to you and use it right.'
But now, one big problem remains: ' If the Law of Attraction relays on feelings, then our lives run the risk of shaking like ocean waves; today you feel good, tomorrow you feel angry and so on...
'The human incapacity for controlling shakeable feelings was one reason why God created the Law through Moses.' God's intent was to differentiate us from animals. Do you know that animals have feelings?If we constantly base our success and failures on our feelings, then how different are we from animals?
The Second problem that the Law of Attraction does not resolve is the' Eternal Life' question. The Bible asks this question :' What is good for a man to win the world (being succesful) and lose his soul?'
Where do we go after death? You might say something like: 'I don't believe that crap!', but at least you could hope for something after death. You will be better off than hoping nothing at all.
