One day Jesus went to the temple and made a dramatic entrance to the world by reading the book of Isaiah, and He said:
'The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
Because He anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor,
He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives,
And recovery of sight the blind,
To set free those who are oppressed,
To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.' (Luke 4:18-19)
And later when Jesus returned to Heaven, He left His disciples with the task to carry on His mission.
We are Jesus disciples and we have been called to carry out His mission statement recorded in the book of Luke 4:18-19.
Jesus mission statement aimed at bringing change to a world where people were hurting, where people were blinded, where people were oppressed and where people needed grace through favor.
Today if you want to be a change agent, you just have to follow through Jesus steps:
1. The Spirit is upon you: 'The Holy Ghost is upon you. You can't do it on your own. You will need super powers from God'
2.Being anointed to preach the good news: ' everyone can share the Gospel and tell the world that Jesus can save them. Even better, in today's world, technology has made it easier to communicate the good news.
3. Proclaim freedom to the captives: 'Many people are chained by addictions, sins , demons and strange self destructive behavior. Jesus as anointed you to break their chains. Don't let them be submerged by addictions they wish to escape.
4. Help the blind recover his sight: We physically blind people who need the super healing power that will restore their sight. Nothing is impossible, we can supernaturally pray for them. But even if you can not, the best would be to refer them to someone whose faith has reached the level of blindness healing. Besides the physically blind, we also have the spiritually or mentally blind; they can not understand the truths of life, the truths of success, of happiness and many other things...As a change agent, we have to show them the light by explaining to them the hidden truths using God's principles.
5. Help those who are oppressed: ' Give a hand to those who are oppressed financially,spiritually, emotionally or under any form. Help them in any possible way.
6.Proclaim favor to people, not Judgement: 'Judgement belongs to God. A favor is an undeserved gift. And there are people who really need favor in their lives. Sometimes we cry for favor, but sometimes we are the ones supposed to make the favor.
