| Minimise your options and find peace... |
In a fast
expanding and materialist generation like ours, being minimalist could bring
some serious advantages. We are currently living at time where spending habits
have become uncontrollable. We engage ourselves into financial engagements in
the forms of loans, bonds, credit cards that we cannot afford at times. As a
result, our lives revolve around mounting bills and move away from the most
important topic: 'Fulfilling our destiny on earth.'
Being minimalist,
in my opinion should be a temporal choice. You do not have to reduce all your
financial options for ever. Some people adopt minimalism as a full time option,
like spiritual monks do...and I respect that.
If you are going through the pressures and demands of our current lives, you will soon understand that some financial decisions have a tendency to submerge what matters the most. When your heart constantly questions the goal of your existence in Christ, you will sooner or later, be faced with the obligations to find the answers.
But it will very difficult, if not impossible to create space for finding answers when your current financial decisions are totally distracting you away from your real dreams. Those distracting objects come in the forms of debts (sometimes useless), unaffordable and vain bills (often avoidable). At a long run, those financial objects become the reason why we get up and go to work. We simply get up to work because we have to pay a cell phone or a TV contract we could not afford at the first place...
Before taking on a financial decision that could turn your life into slavery, ask yourself these questions:
-Can I
really afford that option?
-Is there any cheaper way of getting that option? (is there any Second hand item available ?)
-Is that option vital for my Life?
-Will that financial decision influence my life purpose negatively or positively?
-Increase in your savings.
-Protection
against useless financial distractions such as bad debts, vain bills.
-You create
more time for your real purpose. Instead of working for your bills with
overtime or with a second job, you now
have the option of working towards what fulfils your life (even on a part time
basis).
-By spending less, you increase the chances of paying off debts faster.
-Personal
financial crisis.
-Moments
where your soul needs to find purpose by releasing yourself from non-vital financial and material
demands.
