You might probably be in a stage of life where you probably heard the classic complaint that says:
'They don't treat me well at school...
My colleagues don't respect me...
My wife never takes me seriously...
Everybody Thinks I am Joke...
and so on...
On the other end, I could be pretty sure that you already heard self glorious comments similar to this:
' The whole school thinks I am the hunkiest guy in campus...
I am the best paid player in the world, because I am regarded in high esteem...
"I would vote for myself in the run for World best soccer player." ( C. Ronaldo)
' I know ,I am the Best."
Let's take a look a these pictures:
The picture you see on the left, features one of the most prolific comedian of our era : Mr Rowan Atkinson. What do you sense, when you usually see the notorious actor playing the famous 'Mr. Bean' ?
You probably want to do one thing: LAUGH!
In most of his movies, He does not even to talk to make us laugh...
So how does he do?
He sends strong signals out. And this exactly what we all do.
We all send signals to others on how we want to be treated. It is scientifically proven.
Those signals we send out, adopt various forms such as verbal or physical. Let me ask you two questions:
'Would you hire Mr. Bean ( not Rowan Atkinson) to work for you?'
Why?
Let's have a look at this picture:
What are the first words coming in your mind?
' Confident, attractive, sexy, determined, driven...'
Beyoncé's first impression on this picture, inspires respect. You could take seriously every words she would say before she makes a sound.
There is something about this picture that breaks resistances and open favors.
Did you get something?
Some people still don't understand why they are mistreated, misunderstood or underestimated.
Signals we carry out:
Signals have many forms. School bullies target those who emulate signals of weakness, timidity or shyness.
A signal could be visible through your attitude, the way you carry your body or appearance or even the tone of your voice. I can tell you for a fact that some leaders are never taken seriously because their appearance (hygiene, grooming...) is louder than their voice. Some employees will never be considered for promotion simply because they send out strong signals of laziness and unethical behavior through their work.
The Bible records two beautiful stories featuring two women whose destinies depended on the signals they would send out. The first one is the story of Ruth in the 'Book of Ruth' ( please read it for more details). Ruth's encounter with Boaz, a rich bachelor man would be influenced by the advice of her mentor Naomi, who urged her (Ruth) to prepare herself through some specific self beauty treatment in order to seduce Boaz.
The second story is found in the 'Book of Esther' who became the wife and Queen of the most powerful man of her time (please read the story in the Bible). Do you know how she did it?
While the King was looking for a new wife, she was presented to him after rigorous beautification methods in order to send signals of seduction towards the King, who in return ,made her queen.
Both Ruth and Esther, had something in common: 'they meant serious business in their seduction method and it worked.'
Now, let me ask you those questions:
Are you sending positive signals during a job interview?
Is your Leadership affected by negative signals that your body language show?
Are your poor signals influencing your dating life? (lack of confidence, shyness..)
Remember, whatever you think of yourself, will determine the signals you will send out. If you think you are strong, a leader, a respected person, a great salesman, a loving human, a competent person...you will manifest it in your attitude without saying a word...and people will draw towards you positively through good treatment. On the opposite, if your think poorly of yourself, you might never attempt to ask your boss for a raise, or even ask that beautiful women out on a date...Your signals will send strong poor confidence and you could probably fall prey of bullies...
